Meet Overview

  • The 2026 High School Showdown is an exclusive, invite-only competition featuring the top high school powerlifters in Texas. Invitations will be sent following the THSWPA and THSPA State Championships to recognize the best performers in the state.
  • This is a raw-only, head-to-head competition designed to determine the strongest lifters regardless of bodyweight. Instead of traditional weight classes, all athletes are ranked using DOTS score, a bodyweight coefficient that allows for fair comparison across all lifters.

T$$ Prize Money:

The top 5 male and top 5 female lifters will receive prize money, with a guaranteed minimum total payout of $3,000.

If the meet reaches full capacity, divisions will be split into Lightweight and Heavyweight categories. In that case, the top 3 lifters in each division will be awarded, along with an increased overall prize pool.


Requirements to Compete

  • Must have a valid (non-expired) USAPL membership by meet day (shows 2026 on card).

  • Drug-Free Status: Lifters must have been drug-free for the past 36 months.

  • No qualifying total is required for this meet.

  • Lifting Attire Requirements:

    • One-piece lifting suit or wrestling singlet

    • T-shirt, shoes, and deadlift socks

    • Optional: knee sleeves (Raw) & wrist wraps

    • All gear must comply with USAPL rules

Schedule (Tentative)

Saturday, April 25 – Meet Day

  • 7:00 AM: Check-in & Equipment Check

  • Present USAPL Membership Card & Photo ID, then show referees everything you're wearing on the platform.

  • Weigh-in: Immediately after equipment check, ends at 8:30 AM, no exception (openers are required before stepping on scale)

  • Lifting Begins: 9:00 AM

  • Awards Ceremony: ~1:30 PM

Invitation Timeline

The first round of registration will open at 5pm CST on Sunday March 29th.  All 2026 Texas High School State Champions are invited to register (please note that there are only 40 spots available and over 100 state champions across all divisions so please do not wait long to register as not everyone is guaranteed a spot).  

IMPORTANT: When signing up, it will ask for a registration code, which you will need to type 2026STATECHAMPION to confirm that you have won state this year.  

If spots are still available after March 31st, we will open registration to alternates from our interest form to help fill remaining spots.
