Meet Introduction & Instruction [Video]
View Details
This meet is designed as a family-style event where family members compete together as a team. Unlike a traditional powerlifting meet where each lifter does all three disciplines, family members will split the lifts—each person completes one lift for their team (squat, bench, or deadlift).
Example 1 - A father and his son might divide the lifts like this:
- The son competes in squat
- The father competes in bench
- Either one competes in deadlift
- They are listed together as Team [Last Name].
Example 2 - Families with multiple children:
- Dad: Squat
- Son/Daughter 1: Bench
- Son/Daughter 2: Deadlift
- All three competed as Team [Last Name].
Example 3
- Dad: Squat
- Son/Daughter 1: Bench
- Mom: Deadlift
- All three competed as Team [Last Name].
This competing format works for fathers and daughters, larger families, and even three-generation teams (grandfather, father, son). The one requirement is that dad needs to compete (the exception would be a family of 3 children that all want to compete & the dad is the coach).
The goal is to create a fun, low-pressure Father’s Day celebration, allowing families to enjoy the sport together. Since each person only competes in one lift, the event requires minimal prep and is perfect for beginners and experienced lifters alike.
